Don Benito Juarez Scholarship

This award is to recognize a Latino high school senior who exemplifies the life of Don Benito Juarez seeking further education at UTSA. 

Don Benito Juarez was Mexico’s national hero and its first president of Indian decent. A leader who began from nothing to a leader who sought out an education, with knowledge he help his own to be free. Benito Juarez is remembered as being a progressive reformer dedicated to democracy, equal rights for the nation's indigenous Indian population, lessening the great power that the Roman Catholic Church then held over Mexican politics, and defense of national sovereignty.

 Rigoberta Menchu Scholarship

This award is to recognize a Latino high school senior who exemplifies the life of Rigoberta Menchu seeking further education at UTSA.

Menchú received a primary-school education as a student at several Catholic boarding schools. After leaving school, she worked as an activist campaigning against human rights violations committed by the Guatemalan armed forces during the country's Civil War war that lasted from 1960 to 1996.

Miss Phi I A Scholarship Pageant

The “Miss Phi I A” Pageant is an annual scholarship pageant that is held every spring semester and is where we acknowledge and reward the contributions that ladies at UTSA make to the University and the Community-at-Large.
