CNA professionals assist the doctors and nurses by doing works like cleaning and bathing the patients, dressing their wounds, shifting the wounded from bed to chair or other rooms and checking basic health conditions like pressure, sugar etc using suitable medical equipments. CNA stands for Certified Nurse Assistant. Certification courses in CNA are offered by many private institutions, universities, private medical facilities and communal groups. CNA training has two parts, one theory and one practical part which checks how flexible the person is, in handling patients. The duration of the CNA training varies based on the institution studied. Some universities offer full semester training for CNA professionals. But most private institutions offer short term courses which last for 6 to 12 weeks maximum. Once the course is finished the student can write the exam conducted by the state government to earn a CNA certification. Some people take CPR training along with course for better job opportunities. The training will cost around $400 to $1000. There is high demand for CNA certified professionals all over the country. A qualified CNA professional can earn around $20,000 to $30,000 a year easily.
CNA professionals can get jobs in old age homes, in the houses of people suffering from stokes and other diseases, baby care centers and many other medical facilities. There are certain government programs like Montana’s Displaced Homemaker Program and ROTC scholarships which enable people to take CNA certification courses for free. Many communal organizations arrange for CNA training to be provided for free in exchange for six to three months of service in their institution.
Students who have an aim to take up nursing as career can take CNA training as vocation course. They will get to know what is expected of their job from this course. It will serve as a useful part time course which will give experience in their field as well as money. Even middle aged people who cannot go to college anymore can take this course. Since there is high demand for CNA professionals, they can get a good job, which gives them chance to earn money and do service at the same time.
