There are many who find that they can find a stable career with the United States Army. Part of becoming a part of that Army though is that you have to pass a number of tests. One such test is the Army ASVAB. Here is what you need to know about this test if you are thinking about joining this branch of the military.

The first thing you must know is that this isn’t a comprehensive exam which sees how well you studied for this test. They are measuring your aptitude which is how well you do something; not your IQ. Many forget this and they get more worked up than they really should be about this test. Every person has to take it so you shouldn’t feel as though you are being called out or selected just for being you.

When you do this, you will find that there are ten different categories. They call these line scores. If you are going to work in a particular job, you have to have a select score in these areas before you can apply. This is how they determine where you will be. Each one is a different section that you have to get a certain level. With each MOS you might have to have a line score in a few different areas.

Now, the way that they know what you will be best at is that they use the scores that you get. When you take the test, the test is broken down into ten different sections. Each section you will have so much time to do it. When you go to say this is the job you want to do, they will look at the sections where you have to have a certain score. They then look at the score you got and compare that to the line score. If you pass the line score, then you can apply for that position.

You will have to take this test before you enlist. As we mentioned before, you have to get a certain score overall in order to enlist. At times, these tests are given in the high school as high schoolers are the ones to enlist. Other times, you can take it at the recruiting office. This is how you can take it.

Even though you don’t have to study, there are many of you out there who might not know what you should expect. That is why they have something out there which will help you. When you go online, there are sample test questions. The test will be proctored as people have cheated on this test. Then, you will be graded and get your grades through the mail.
